1998-11-14 Roy Jones w rsc 10 Otis Grant, Foxwoods Resort Casino, Ledyard, Connecticut, USA - WBA/WBC. Referee: Arthur Mercante (Snr). After being caught heavily in the opening session, the southpaw challenger went on the defensive and it was only due to Jones (171) playing to the gallery that he lasted so long. Initially standing back to admire his work, Jones almost overwhelmed Grant (172) in the fourth and in the sixth he had the latter over with a right uppercut. It had been one-way traffic all the way, with Jones being too fast for his rival and at 1.18 of the tenth after Grant was sent crashing by a lead right the referee called the fight off when one of the stricken fighter’s seconds jumped into the ring.

With Jones unavailable, Richard Hall stopped Anthony Bigeni in the third round of their WBA ‘interim’ title fight held at the Convention Centre, Atlantic City, New Jersey on 5 December. Hall would eventually meet Jones in May 2000.
