1999-02-06 Bernard Hopkins w rsc 7 Robert Allen, Convention Centre, Washington DC, USA - IBF. Referee: Rudy Battle. Following their four-round no-decision fight, Hopkins (159) wanted to put the record straight especially after Allen (159) had claimed that the champion had been capable of carrying on had he wished. This time Hopkins was leaving nothing to chance and was soon into his stride, throwing solid rights over the top. Clearly winning every round, despite being docked a point in the fourth for low blows, Hopkins continued to pick up the pace and in the sixth he knocked Allen down with a big right to the head after good left-hand work. Not letting up, Hopkins steamed into Allen in the seventh and after cornering the latter, hammering in right after right to the head, the referee rescued the challenger on the 1.18 mark.
