1999-02-06 Bernard Hopkins w rsc 7 Robert Allen, Convention Centre, Washington DC, USA - IBF. Referee: Rudy Battle. Following their four-round technical draw, Hopkins (159) wanted to put the record straight especially after Allen (159) had claimed that the champion had been capable of carrying on had he wished. This time, with Hopkins leaving nothing to chance, he was soon into his stride when throwing solid rights over the top. Clearly winning every round, despite being docked a point in the fourth for low blows, Hopkins continued to pick up the pace before knocking Allen down with a big right to the head in the sixth after good left-hand work. The end was not long in coming. With Allen cornered in the seventh, being hammered by a succession of rights to the head, the referee rescued him on the 1.18 mark.
