1999-02-13 Richie Woodhall w rsc 6 Vincenzo Nardiello, Telewest Arena, Newcastle, England - WBC. Referee: Lupe Garcia. Coming right back to form after his previous disappointing defence, Woodhall (167) took the fight to Nardiello (168) right from the opening bell, with sharp jabs and rights to both head and body. Despite being outboxed, Nardiello (168) came back with solid southpaw lefts that forced Woodhall to cover up in the third round and in the fifth he put the latter down for ‘three’ with another big left. Woodhall was soon back on top, dropping his man with a right to the body for ‘nine’ immediately prior to the Italian throwing himself down after the bell, looking for a foul. It did not work and in the sixth Nardiello took several rights to the body before being dropped for ‘eight’ from a right to the head. Back on his feet it was clear that Nardiello wanted out and when Woodhall opened up with both hands the referee made a timely intervention on the 1.44 mark.
