1999-02-13 Richie Woodhall w rsc 6 Vincenzo Nardiello, Telewest Arena, Newcastle, England - WBC. Referee: Lupe Garcia. Coming right back to form after his previous disappointing defence, Woodhall (167) took the fight to Nardiello (168) from the start with sharp jabs and rights to both head and body. Despite being outboxed Nardiello (168) came on with solid southpaw lefts that forced Woodhall to cover up in the third round, and in the fifth he put the latter down for ‘three’ with another big left. Woodhall was soon back on top, dropping his man with a right to the body for ‘nine’ immediately prior to the Italian throwing himself down after the bell when looking for a foul. It did not work. Then, in the sixth, Nardiello took several rights to the body before being dropped for ‘eight’ from a right to the head. With Nardiello wanting out, when Woodhall opened up with both hands the referee made a timely intervention on the 1.44 mark.
