1999-02-27 Reggie Johnson w pts 12 Will Taylor, Miccosukee Indian Gaming, Miami, Florida, USA - IBF. Referee: Max Parker. Scorecards: 115-112, 115-112, 114-113. The 6’3” Taylor (173) certainly gave the southpaw champion a run for his money despite being unable to dominate at any stage, his long left jab being his best weapon. Although Johnson (172) always had his nose in front he was not at his best and it took several rounds before he found any sustainable rhythm. Eventually Johnson found some heavy punches to hurt Taylor in the final four rounds, before having to suffer the ignominy of being caught square by a right to the jaw that dropped him in the final session. Although Johnson was badly cut over the right eye with almost the last punch of the fight, it came too late for the upright Taylor, who gave it his best shot.
