1999-03-06 David Reid w pts 12 Laurent Boudouani, Boardwalk Convention Centre, Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA - WBA. Referee: Randy Neumann. Scorecards: 117-112, 117-111, 118-112. Given a crack at the title, the 1996 Olympic champion, Reid (154), soon made his presence felt when lashing in a cracking left hook in the second round and although Boudouani (152) came right back he continued to be caught by long, fast jabs. As the fight progressed, the champion was being outworked, relying too much on countering Reid with the right hand, and in the ninth he was almost taken out by another left hook. Surprisingly, in the tenth Boudouani rallied to win that session along with the 11th, but just when he needed to make a big effort it was Reid who produced all the better punches in the final session to win handsomely.
