Line 1: Line 1:
1999-04-24 [[Akhmed Kotiev]] w rsc 3 [[Peter Malinga]], Krone Circus Tent, Munich, Germany - WBO. Referee: Genaro Rodriguez. Coming out fast the champion made it his contest right from the off, punching solidly from head to body as Malinga (145½) did his best to cover up. Previously thought to lack power, Kotiev (147) proved that he could punch once he set his feet and in the third round a big right to the head put Malinga down for ‘eight’. Back in the fray, Malinga was dropped twice more during the session before the referee called a halt on the 1.15 mark in order to save the beleagured South African from taking further punishment.
