On 17 September at the Pakpanag Metro Stadium, Nakhon, Thailand, despite Pacquiao coming in at 113lbs and losing his title on the scales the contest against [[Medgoen Singsurat]] (112) went ahead with the latter being declared the new champion after he had knocked out the weakened Filipino at 1.32 of the third. Having hurt Pacquiao in the second round with heavy straight rights it was more of the same in the third as he punched his rival around the ring, the finishing punch being a right to the body.
