1999-05-15 Randall Bailey w co 1 Carlos Gonzalez, Jai-Alai Fronton, Miami, Florida, USA - WBO. Referee: Telis Assimenios. Given a crack at the world title the little-known Bailey (140) surprised everyone, including the champion, when scoring one of the quickest wins in championship history. Although he came into the fight unbeaten in 18 starts the lanky 24-year-old challenger was not expected to give Gonzalez (139¾) too many problems, despite most of his wins coming early. However, having made a good start and showing very fast hands Bailey smashed in a left hook that dropped Gonzalez heavily for a dramatic knockout after just 41 seconds of the fight.
