1999-06-05 Vassily Jirov w rsc 7 Arthur Williams, The Coliseum, Biloxi, Mississippi, USA - IBF. Referee: Paul Sita. Despite making a reasonable start, the champion was soon under duress as Jirov (188) cut him over the right eye in the second round before he was smashed to the floor by a long southpaw left to the body in the third. Back in the fight by the fifth it looked as though Williams (188) might have weathered the storm, but in the next session he was once again looking to survive after being hurt again. Then, after being dropped by a cracking left followed by a right to the body and being battered without reply after getting to his feet, Williams was rescued by the referee at1.59 of the session.
