1999-08-07 Johnny Nelson w rtd 4 Willard Lewis, Goresbrook Leisure Centre, Dagenham, England - WBO. Referee: Dave Parris. With huge advantages in height and reach the champion found Lewis (189¾) an easy target, landing so many punches in the fourth that two of the judges marked it a 10-8 round. Two solid right crosses opened a cut over Lewis’ left eye as Nelson (189½) went to work in that session, being followed by a left hook ripping open a cut over the Canadian’s right eye. Having taken a real pounding, and with serious eye damage making a difficult task even harder, it came as no surprise when Lewis was retired by his corner during the interval.
