1999-08-28 David Reid w pts 12 Keith Mullings, Hard Rock Hotel, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - WBA. Referee: Jay Nady. Scorecards: 117-111, 117-111, 117-111. Seemingly back to his best, the champion got the jab going from the opening bell to rack up the first three sessions, but by the middle rounds Mullings (154) had turned up the heat when blasting away with two hands. Mullings was also resorting to foul tactics, mainly with the use of the head, but the infringements were not dealt with by the referee and in the eighth session Reid’s left eye was cut. At that point Reid (154) went back to the jab to sail through the next three sessions before having to endure a foul-filled 12th when he was thrown to the deck in anger and forced to take a knee. For whatever reason Mullings escaped disqualification, but it did him no good.
