Meeting Green (159½) for the third time with the score one apiece, the champion got down to work quickly, wobbling the Dominican with a big right in the second and cutting him over the left eye in the third. With the cut worsening round by round as Joppy (158½) played on it, Green became desperate and at 1.52 of the seventh the referee called the fight off as the blood flowed. According to all three judges Joppy had won all six completed rounds.
