1999-10-09 Vitali Klitschko w rsc 3 Ed Mahone, The Arena, Oberhausen, Germany - WBO. Referee: Rudy Battle. Controlling the fight right from the start with stabbing left jabs and left hooks, the champion was merely biding his time before laying into Mahone (229¼) with a vengeance in the third round. With the crowd looking for more action, Klitschko (246) floored Mahone after belting him with a mixture of hooks, uppercuts and right crosses. Despite taking advantage of the mandatory count after getting up at ‘five’, Mahone was soon put down again after Klitschko opened up with hooks and uppercuts from both hands and at 1.45 of the session the referee stopped the fight.
