1999-11-06 Johnny Nelson w co 4 Christophe Girard, Kingsway Leisure Centre, Widnes, England - WBO. Referee: Mickey Vann. Starting in confident mode the champion was soon sending out lefts and rights while Girard (182½) was happy to move away. Due to the negative tactics employed the contest failed to get going until the fourth round, one of the judges even giving Girard the third as Nelson (189¼) threw so few punches. That all changed in the fourth when Nelson began to open up, sending Girard to the floor when landing with a right-hand counter, and after the latter got up he was eventually counted out on the 2.34 mark having been dropped by a long right uppercut to the face.
