1999-11-13 Gilberto Serrano w rsc 10 Stefano Zoff, Thomas & Mack Arena, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - WBA. Referee: Jay Nady. Making an excellent start, Serrano (134) used his speed and extra reach to pile up the points, knocking the champion’s head back with left jabs, before suddenly tiring in the seventh. At that point, Zoff (133½), making a big effort to get into the fight, backed Serrano up for a couple of rounds, but all of his good work would ultimately count for nothing when he wheeled away in the ninth with blood pouring from his right eye. Although Zoff was allowed out for the tenth, with his eye swelling rapidly and Serrano in full cry it couldn’t continue and the referee stopped the fight 31 seconds into the session.
