1999-11-13 [[Paul Ingle]] w pts 12 [[Manuel Medina]], The Arena, Hull, England - IBF. Referee: Eddie Johnson. Scorecards: 118-107, 114-110, 113-111. Although unable to finish Medina (125¾) off after twice dropping the champion in the second round and again having him down in the tenth, Ingle (126) never ceased working against a man recognised for his work rate; the punch stats showing Medina landing 266 from 1106 thrown, as opposed to Ingle’s 408 from 943. Having given everything, an extremely tired Medina was almost pulled out of the fight by his corner in the latter stages. However, getting a second wind he tore into Ingle when the swelling under the latter’s left eye burst, smashing in a right to the chin before dropping him with another right with just 30 seconds of the fight left. Up at ‘five’ Ingle took the ‘eight’ count, and then pulled himself together to make it to the final bell, following which the applause was deservedly rapturous.
