1999-11-19 Marc Johnson tdraw 4 Raul Juarez, The Armory, Washington DC, USA - IBF. Referee: Joe Cooper. Following an exploratory opening round both men got down to business in the second, as Johnson (115) worked Juarez (114) to the ropes before getting his punches off. It was toe-to-toe action in the third, heads colliding and punches hitting the borderline, before the southpaw champion stepped up a gear in the fourth. With the bit between the teeth, Johnson inadvertently smashed in a blow which was palpably low that sent Juarez down writhing in pain. Under IBF rules the fight was called off at 2.09 and declared to be a no-contest, but for our purposes it should be seen as a technical draw.

This was the last defence for Johnson, and after being imprisoned following assault and drug offences he was stripped of his IBF version of the title in February 2000. Following that, Felix Machado and Julio Gamboa were signed up to contest the vacant title.
