1999-11-21 Nestor Garza w rsc 12 Kozo Ishii, Rainbow Hall, Nagoya, Japan - WBA. Referee: Enzo Montero. In a fight that was give-and-take action all the way, it was even coming into the final round. Eager to land the title, Ishii (121½) gave it everything only to walk into a countering left hook which floored him. Despite getting up, when the referee judged him not capable of continuing the contest was halted with just 30 seconds left on the clock. It had been a thriller, and Garza (122), who had been lucky to survive a seventh-round crisis when he had been sent reeling from a flurry of blows, yet again proved his mettle against a tough, hard-hitting opponent.
