1999-12-11 Juan Carlos Gomez w rsc 9 Napoleon Tagoe, Alsterdorf Sports Hall, Hamburg, Germany - WBC. Referee: Laurence Cole. The champion started as he meant to finish, banging in southpaw punches from both hands, and looking to hurt Tagoe (189½) at every opportunity. Towering six inches over his rival, the 6’4” Gomez (189¼) wobbled Tagoe in the third, drove him around the ring in the fourth before dropping him with a solid left to the jaw in the fifth. Managing to keep out of trouble in the sixth, Tagoe was floored again in the seventh and finally put out of his misery at 1.25 of the ninth when counted out after a left uppercut delivered on the inside had sent him crashing.
