1999-12-11 Juan Carlos Gomez w rsc 9 Napoleon Tagoe, Alsterdorfer Sports Hall, Hamburg, Germany - WBC. Referee: Laurence Cole. The champion started as he meant to finish, banging in southpaw punches from both hands and looking to hurt Tagoe (189½) at every opportunity. Towering six inches over his rival the 6’4” Gomez (189¼) wobbled Tagoe in the third before driving his man around the ring in the fourth and dropping him with a solid left to the jaw in the fifth. Although managing to keep out of trouble in the sixth Tagoe was floored again in the seventh, being finally put out of his misery at 1.25 of the ninth when counted out after a left uppercut delivered on the inside had sent him crashing.
