2000-02-19 Harry Simon w rtd 10 Enrique Areco, Goresbrook Leisure Centre, Dagenham, England - WBO. Referee: Raul Caiz. Working well with the southpaw jab and showing plenty of movement, the 37-year-old challenger made life difficult for Simon (153½) despite failing to win a round on the cards. Although Simon was doing his best to take Areco (154) out he was having great difficulty in trapping a man who could work inside or on the back foot equally well and it was only when the latter began to feel the pace that things changed. By the eighth Simon was beginning to connect and in the ninth a left hook produced a nasty swelling under Areco’s eye. Simon was now looking to finish it and after a left uppercut dropped Areco for ‘nine’ towards the end the tenth, leaving the Argentinian with a bad swelling on his good eye, he was retired during the interval.
