2000-03-18 [[Diego Corrales]] w rsc 3 [[Derrick Gainer]], MGM Grand, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - IBF. Referee: Jay Nady. Although he kept the champion at bay in the opening two rounds, mainly using the jab and throwing harmless flurries, the southpaw Gainer (130) was living on borrowed time as Corrales (130) gradually moved up a gear to close the gap. In the third, Corrales walked in hooking and uppercutting before flooring Gainer with a cracking left hook and after the latter clambered up and was dropped again, the referee, who by then had seen enough, called it off on the 1.50 mark.
