25 June Veeraphol Sahaprom w pts 12 Toshiaki Nishioka, Municipal Gym, Takasago, Japan - WBC. Referee: Laurence Cole. Scorecards: 116-112, 116-112, 115-113. Nishioka (118), a southpaw, was hoping to take the title in front of his home crowd, but in the main he was constantly on the move to avoid the heavy punches coming his way and had little success on the attacking front. Known as the ‘Death Mask’, Sahaprom (117¾) just kept coming and although he failed to put his man down he was always the aggressor, never letting up, and was well worth the unanimous decision handed to him.
