2001-01-20 [[Floyd Mayweather Jr]] w rsc 10 [[Diego Corrales]], MGM Grand, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - WBC. Referee: Richard Steele. Never really getting into the fight after giving up his IBF belt in order to go for the WBC title, Corrales (130) failed to use his height-and-reach advantages and was pounded to defeat at 2.19 of the tenth round. Landing as he pleased throughout with all manner of shots, Mayweather (130) eventually floored Corrales in the seventh with a crunching left hook and knocked him down twice more before the session ended. There were no further knockdowns in the next two rounds as Mayweather took it easy, but all that changed at 2.19 of the tenth when Corrales, who had been dropped twice more, was rescued by the referee.
