2001-06-08 [[Eric Morel]] w rtd 8 [[Jose De Jesus Lopez]], Ho-Chunk Casino, Baraboo, Wisconsin, USA - WBA. Referee: Dick Bartman. With his injured hands fully repaired, Morel (112) outclassed De Jesus (111), who despite having fast hands stayed within range for too long and made himself an easy target. The challenger had a terrible third round, being knocked down twice, and by the sixth was little more than a punch bag. Hit with non-stop punches in the seventh, De Jesus went down again, this time taking Morel with him, but rose to bravely fight on before being retired on his stool at the end of the eighth.
