2001-10-26 [[Pongsaklek Wonjongkam]] w tdec 8 [[Alex Baba]], Indoor Basketball Gym, Hat Yai, Thailand - WBC. Referee: Richie Davies. Scorecards: 79-73, 79-73, 79-71. Taking the initiative from the start, Wonjongkam (112), an excellent southpaw puncher with a good defence, landed accurate combinations to go into the lead before sustaining a bad cut on the left eyebrow in the fourth following an accidental collision. From there on, Baba (112) gamely got back into the fight until the champion cut loose again in the eighth, only for his eye damage to worsen and leave the referee no alternative but to pull him out on the 2.35 mark and go to the scorecards.
