2001-11-17 Yober Ortega w co 4 Jose Rojas, Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - WBA. Referee: Tony Weeks. Billed for the vacant title, Ortega and Rojas were matched after Clarence Adams had been stripped in July. In a fight that was less than world class, Rojas (122) got away the quicker and won the first two rounds before the 36-year-old Ortega (120½), who had been inactive for 12 months, picked it up with effective body punches. Now confident, Ortega moved up a gear in the fourth and a terrific right hook sent Rojas hurtling to the canvas out to the world, whereupon the referee called a halt without taking up the count. The finish was timed at 0.36.
