2002-07-27 Byron Mitchell w rsc 4 Julio Cesar Green, Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - WBA. Referee: Vic Drakulich. In what started as a brawl, the champion was soon on the end of things in the opening round when downed twice, firstly by a cracking left hook and secondly following a flurry of blows as the unfancied Green (168) looked for the finish. Still suffering the after effects in the second, by the third Mitchell (167½) was beginning to put his punches together and in the fourth he sent in a solid short right that opened up a gash over Green’s left eye. At this point Mitchell went for broke and after hammering Green around the ring and the eye damage worsening  the referee stopped the fight on the 1.55 mark.
