After dropping two of the opening three rounds and being badly hurt in the third, the champion picked up the pace to go clear as Sheika (167) appeared happy to box on the back foot. By the fifth, although Sheika was boxing a clever fight Lucas (166¾) was one step ahead of him, scoring well with left-right-lefts. Cut over the left eye in the seventh, Sheika tried to force Lucas on the back foot in the latter rounds but could never quite get past the jab and was well beaten at the finish.
