2003-02-22 [[Erik Morales]] w rsc 3 [[Eddie Croft]], City Bullring, Mexico City, Mexico, USA - WBC. Referee: Laurentino Ramirez. Strangely sanctioned as a title fight by the authority, Croft (126) had no right to have been in the same ring as the hard-punching champion as he had not boxed in three years, was unranked, and had lost his last three contests inside the distance. With 25,000 fans in attendance, Morales (126) did what was expected of him and dropped Croft, once in the second round and twice more in the third, prior to the contest being terminated by the referee on the 2.16 mark.
