2003-04-19 Floyd Mayweather w pts 12 Victoriano Sosa, Selland Arena, Fresno, California, USA - WBC. Referee: Raul Caiz. Scorecards: 118-110, 119-109, 118-110. Fighting in mainly defensive mode, the champion never allowed Sosa (134) close enough to do any real damage as he doubled up the jab and looked to counter while digging in occasional damaging blows to head and body. As the fight progressed, Sosa (134), showing good hand speed, was always dangerous with the right and Mayweather had to have his wits about him at all times. It was when Sosa tired that Mayweather took over, winning the last five rounds, but he could never relax against a dangerous opponent who was trying right to the end.
