2003-11-15 [[Manny Pacquiao]] w rsc 11 [[Marco Antonio Barrera]], The Alamodome, San Antonio, Texas, USA - The Ring. Referee: Laurence Cole. Recognised by ''The Ring'' magazine as a championship contest, Barrera (126) lost his title to the IBF junior featherweight champion, Pacquiao (125), when the referee rescued him from taking further punishment with just four seconds of the 11th remaining. Dropped in the third, and again in the sixth, Barrera had run out of ideas by the end of the tenth against a southpaw opponent who just kept throwing punches. Cut over the left eye after being accidentally butted in the seventh and battered and bruised, when Barrera was put down again in the 11th although making it to his feet he was taking punches without reply before being pulled out of the fight. Even when Pacquiao had been counted over in the opening session it was clearly a slip and not a knockdown, and from that moment on he dominated.
