2004-05-08 [[Zsolt Erdei]] w pts 12 [[Hugo Hernan Garay]], Westphalia Hall, Dortmund, Germany - WBO. Referee: Jose Rivera. Scorecards: 115-113, 116-112, 114-114. In what was a difficult defence, Edei (173¾) just about deserved the win over the tough Garay (174¾), who started fast and was always looking to attack the body. Several times Garay was warned by the referee to keep his punches up, but it failed to deter him, as he looked to slow Erdei down. Sticking to his boxing, Erdei always came back with good jabs and accurate counters, but he was happy to see the fight out after Garay came on strong to take the last two rounds in an aggressive fashion.
