2004-09-25 [[Ivan Hernandez]] w co 8 [[Marc Johnson]], FedEx Forum, Memphis, Tennessee, USA - WBO. Referee: Armando Garcia. The young Mexican challenger was certainly not overawed by the southpaw Johnson (115) and proved it by landing a heavy right in the opening round which put the latter on his toes for the remainder of the contest. Although Johnson looked dangerous, especially with the right uppercut, Hernandez (115) looked to match him all the way but had to weather the storm when badly hurt in the sixth by solid right hands. Coming back strongly in the seventh, Hernandez dropped Johnson with a right-hand counter and although the champion made it to the bell he was put him down again, in the eighth, by a right to the body that saw him counted out at 2.42 of the session.
