2005-04-02 [[Jean-Marc Mormeck]] w pts 12 [[Wayne Braithwaite]], DCU Centre, Worcester, Massachusetts, USA - WBA/WBC/The Ring. Referee: Richard Flaherty. Scorecards: 116-110, 114-112, 115-111. In a battle to unify two titles and for ''The Ring'' magazine’s prestigious championship belt, Mormeck (198), the WBA champion, proved too good for the switch-hitting Braithwaite (188), his WBC counterpart. For five rounds it was very competitive, both men getting home with heavy shots, but in the sixth Mormeck got on top when driving in solid blows to Braithwaite’s head and body, and in the seventh he had the latter down from a cracking right to the head. Docked a point for holding in the eighth, badly cut over the left eye in the same session, Braithwaite was in big trouble, but digging deep he somehow stayed in the contest and took two of the last three rounds as Mormeck tired.
