2005-04-16 Yutaka Niida w pts 12 Jae-Won Kim, Nihon Budokan Martial Arts Hall, Tokyo, Japan - WBA. Referee: Mark Nelson. Scorecards: 117-112, 118-110, 119-111. Through to the eighth round it was Kim (105) forcing the action, with the champion countering splendidly with solid rights and left hooks, which were good enough for him to take most of the rounds on the cards. From the eighth onwards, Niida (105) came on strong, belting in combinations to head and body, and although Kim stood his ground it took the man from Japan into an unassailable lead that he never let go of.
