2005-04-29 [[Mahyar Monshipour]] w rsc 6 [[Shigeru Nakazato]], Sports Palace, Marseille, France - WBA. Referee: Raul Caiz. Starting strongly, a hallmark of his career, the champion tore into Nakazato (121) only to be met by an equally determined customer and there was little in it at the end of a frenetic opening session. Although beginning to get on top in the fourth, Monshipour (121) did not have things his own way and was caught by several heavy rights and lefts to the head in the fifth as he looked to finish it. Now cut over the right eye, Monshipour came out for the sixth with a vengeance and after much pressure he dropped Nakazato with a tremendous right cross to the jaw. Despite there being just three seconds of the round remaining, it was obvious that Nakazato was done for and the referee immediately called it off to allow him to be tended to.
