2005-06-04 Ricky Hatton w rtd 11 Kostya Tszyu, MEN Arena, Manchester, England - IBF/The Ring. Referee: Dave Parris. In one of the great British fight nights, Hatton (140) forced the once top-class champion to retire on his stool at the end of the 11th, having beaten him to a standstill and leaving him with nothing in the tank. It was a sad end for Tszyu (140), but the challenger had taken everything that was thrown at him before coming on like a train to control the last few rounds and, ultimately, destroy whatever chances remained for the champion. Hatton had outboxed and outpunched his rival, shown many of the qualities that great fighters need, and had won The Ring magazine championship belt on the result.
