2005-11-05 Rafael Marquez w rsc 4 Silence Mabuza, Caesar’s Palace, Lake Tahoe, Stateline, Nevada, USA - IBF. Referee: Norm Budden. The fight had barely started when a big left hook dropped Mabuza (118), and although the challenger made it to the end of the round he was still dazed on returning to his corner. Despite taking some hefty blows from Marquez (118) in the next couple of sessions it looked as though Mabuza was gradually beginning to find his way towards the end of the third, but in the fourth the situation became even more tenuous for the South African after he was cut on the left cheek. Realising it was his last chance, Mabuza went toe to toe with Marquez, but after being badly cut over the right eye following a fierce exchange the referee, on the advice of the doctor, pulled him out of the fight on the 2.08 mark.
