On 15 August it was announced that Mayweather had relinquished the IBF title in order to challenge [[Carlos Baldomir]] for the WBA crown, rather than defend against the little known [[Mark Suarez]]. Following this action, Suarez was booked to meet [[Kermit Cintron]] to contest the vacant title.
