Further to that, [[Isaac Hlatshwayo]] and [[Delvin Rodriguez]] were contracted to settle the vacancy after boxing a debatable 12-round draw at the Emperor’s Palace, Kempton Park, Gauteng, South Africa on 17 November in an eliminating contest. Clottey forfeited his title on 16 April 2009 after signing for a fight against the WBO champion, Miguel Cotto.
