Into 2011, on 5 February, Austin Trout outpointed Rigoberto Alvarez over 12 rounds to win the vacant WBA ‘second tier’ title at the Medrano 67 Coliseum Arena, Guadalajara, Mexico; the loser forfeiting the ‘interim’ belt.
