On 2 July, Jonathan Victor Barros outpointed Celestino Caballero at the Sports Colony, Junin, Mendoza, Argentina to make a successful defence of his ‘second tier’ title.

A few days later, the so-called WBA ‘unified’ title was deemed to be non-existent after Yuriorkis Gamboa signed to meet the WBO’s Daniel Ponce De Leon.
