A few days after Bradley vacated the title on winning the WBO welterweight crown on 9 June 2012, Juan Manuel Marquez, the ‘interim’ champion, was handed full championship status.

The vacant ‘interim’ title was then won by Mike Alvarado, who outpointed Brandon Rios over 12 rounds at the Mandalay Bay Hotel & Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada on 30 March 2013.
