On 14 July, [[Jesus Silvestre]] outpointed [[Edwin Diaz]] over 12 rounds at the Fair Stockade, Tepic, Nayarit, Mexico, to win the vacant WBA ‘interim’ title. Silvestre made a successful defence of the WBA ‘interim’ title when stopping [[Takuya Mitamura]] inside four rounds at the same venue on 6 October.
