On 15 June, at the Airlines Centre, Dallas, Texas, Garcia (128) lost both belts on the scales when weighing in two pounds over the weight for his contest against [[Juan Manuel Lopez]]. Although the fight went ahead with only Lopez able to win the belts he was stopped in the fourth round.
