Junior Flyweight (Light Flyweight) Division

The 108lbs weight class was introduced in 1975 by the World Boxing Council, who finally recognised that some fighters, especially in the Far-East and Mexico, were just too light to take on fully-fledged flyweights. Within a matter of months, the World Boxing Association also accepted the need for the weight class and followed the WBC’s example in setting up championship fights at the weight
