1896-04-25Tommy Creed2-3-4
Long Island A.C., Brooklyn, New York, USADPTS66
referee: Mike Martin
The bout was scheduled for eight, Skelly was the cleverer of the two and Creed fought foul all the way through. Referee Mike Martin stopped the bout at the end of the sixth after Creed had hit Skelly twice at the gong, and declared a draw. Skelly refused to shake hands with Creed. Brooklyn Daily Eagle
1896-03-21Danny McBride7-1-1
Bay View A.C., Brooklyn, New York, USADPTS66
referee: John P. Eckhardt
Scheduled for ten, McBride refused to fight for more than six with a draw decision if both men were still on their feet. The first four rounds were very tame, referee Eckhardt sent both boxers to their corners in the fifth claiming they were faking. McBride's defence was that he could only fight with one hand as he had injured the other, Skelly said he was never a slugger but a scientific boxer. Eckhardt let them continue and as they were both on their feet at the end of six a draw was the decision. Brooklyn Daily Eagle
